ABOUT STEVEN HENDRICKS
Steven Hendricks, a seasoned writer himself with more than 20 years of experience in the corporate communications world, has seen it all. From writing Hallmark Cards to writing speeches, to managing public relations and global communications for Fortune 500 companies like AT&T, Motorola, Xerox, BlueCross BlueShield, and more, Steven has accumulated a wealth of knowledge surrounding strategic communications. Not to mention, he was quite the globetrotter conducting business in more than 15 countries and living in major cities like Kansas City, Missouri; Dallas, Houston, Chicago, and even Hong Kong! As you can probably imagine, he spent many long hours on flights much before the dawn of Netflix where he began “binge reading” action thriller series and novels. He was especially a fan of the James Bond series (seriously, you’d want him on your 007 trivia team) and ventured out from there.
After many years leading corporate communications teams, Steven has found peace and pleasure in reading and reviewing countless books in the thriller genre. When he’s not locked in reading and reviewing action thriller novels, some of his hobbies include watching sports (Go Wichita State Shockers!), reading at the beach (notice the various Tampa Bay beaches he tags in his reviews), or better yet, hosting backyard BBQs - Kansas City-style where he really “throws down” on the grill. A proud father of four, Steven can also be found FaceTiming his kids (or bragging about them on Facebook) all who have left their Tampa Bay nest.

BOOKS & BOOZE
The “Books & Booze Pairings” started out with me just having something to drink while reading/writing. I’ll usually enjoy a cup of coffee, a fruit smoothie, or sometimes an “adult beverage” while writing the review of the book, and I would just use my drink as a nice prop in the photo.
After my stepfather passed away in 2020, leaving behind an ample supply of liquor, I wanted to use his beer and liquor bottles without getting rid of them since I’m not a big drinker myself. That’s how I started matching the liquor/beer bottles with the color scheme of the book covers or with whatever drinks were mentioned in the novel or whatever the main character might be drinking. I thought this was a fun way to promote the book reviews while also honoring my stepfather who was married to my mom for 40 years.
